Shikwari Nature Reserve

Shikwari Nature Reserve offers 2 camps – one a luxury camp and the other is for those looking for a budget friendly stay. The camps are set on a Nature Reserve with plains game animals. No dangerous animals here.

Shikwari Suites – TGCSA 4-Star Rated.
6 lovely private junior suites with private bathrooms, on a plains game nature reserve. Set amongst the natural bush giving a sense of privacy & calm. All suites accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children aged 5-12yrs. There is no capacity for more than 2 adults & 2 children.

Pangolin Rondavels – Not Graded.
A more budget option but comfortable & accepted by many of our foreign tourists. There are 4 traditional rondavels. 2 rondavels with a “Bush Bathroom” – outdoor shower, covered toilet & basin & 2 rondavels share a separate bathroom and outdoor shower. All beds offer luxury percale linen & towels are supplied. All rooms have a wardrobe, seating, & tea & coffee trays. This camp offers a great full breakfast and guests can also opt for half board.

Guided Game drives with an FGASA guide available to Kruger Park and other amazing private reserves in the area. Note guests are welcome to walk on our reserve but we don’t offer game drives on our property. Also close to many other exciting day trips such as the Panorama Route.

Children welcome – 5yrs -12yrs old are accommodated with parents at 50% of the adult sharing rate. Teens 13yrs – 18yrs are accommodated at 50% of the adult sharing rate in their own room or with one other adult and/or 2 younger siblings. This applies to both camps.

Guests at both camps take meals at the Shikwari Suites; meals are included either on Half Board only for Shikwari Suites or for Pangolin Rondavel we offer B&B or Half Board.

We set in an area of unrivaled beauty. Hot summers 30 -40 deg C and mild winters 20-26 deg C going down to 10 deg C at night, making visits to this area a year round pleasure. Shikwari is approx a 5-6hr journey from Johannesburg. A car or a guide and vehicle is necessary to get around. There is no bus, train or Uber service. Transfers to & from the lodge can be arrange before arrival from the Eastgate International Airport 40kms away.

The friendly town of Hoedspruit is 35km from the lodge and offers banks & Forex exchange, great restaurants/coffee shops, supermarkets, & clothing, curio & photographic stores. This is one of the hubs of wildlife tourism!
