Situated midway between Johannesburg and Durban, Montusi Mountain Lodge is one of the few destinations with a panoramic vista of the Drakensberg’s most famous feature, the Amphitheatre escarpment.

Montusi believes that preservation is an integral part of conservation. Over the years invasive wattle trees have been eradicated and the area rehabilitated by planting indigenous trees. This effort has culminated in the indigenous forests, and resultant indigenous birdlife, flourishing. Additionally, this has seen the return of Mountain Reedbuck, Vaal Rhebuck, Bushbuck and the elusive Eland that have begun to populate this area once inhabited by Bushmen.

Montusi Mountain Lodge consists of a large and beautifully thatched Main Lodge with reception, dining room, terrace, bar, lounge and massage treatment room.

OUR SUITES
Montusi boasts 16 beautifully appointed, free-standing suites set in open gardens each with panoramic views of the Amphitheatre and surrounding mountains. All the suites are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and a bar fridge for fresh milk. A minibar facility in the suite is available upon request. All suites are fitted with a carport for one vehicle.

There are ten comfortable Garden Suites which each have a bedroom with en-suite bathroom (bath and walk-in shower), a lounge with TV, DVD player, gas operated fireplace and private patio. Most suites have a kingsize double bed (others with two singles beds) and the bathrooms are all beautifully fitted.

The larger Mountain Suites are the newest addition to our accommodation offering. All Mountain Suites have a lounge with a TV, DVD player, gas operated fireplace and private patio.

The four Family Suites can comfortably accommodate 4 adults in two spacious bedrooms that allow for privacy. The first bedroom has a kingsize bed and a bathroom with shower and toilet, while the second bedroom has twin beds and a bathroom with either a bath or a shower and toilet. The twin beds can be converted to a kingsize double bed. The Family Suites have a lounge with a TV, DVD player, gas-operated fireplace and private patio.

CUISINE
Our comfortably ambient restaurant with log fireplace is renowned for sumptuous local cuisine with innovative menus. The restaurant has the flexibility to cater for restricted diets upon request.

In summer we dine outside on the Phumleni with the Amphitheatre view enchanting the guests while they enjoy sumptuous meals.
Breakfast and dinner are included for lodge guests. Light lunches are available between 12:30 and 14:00. Come and join us for your meals to find out what all the fuss is about.

When you book Montusi for your wedding you book the whole of Montusi. This means the lodge and the 1,000 hectares of conservation estate just for your wedding and celebration.
